Friday the 13th Is Back. Here's Why It Scares Us.
I’m not superstitious, and see myself as quite rational, but I do have a mild case of numerology on occasion. Friday the 13th certainly affects me somehow. Maybe my brain subconsciously triggers the response to the horror movies I saw as a kid. I utterly hate scary movies. (The article in the link is from 2018, but still a great read.) “It’s been estimated that $800 or $900 million [U.S.] is lost in business on this day, because people will not fly or do business they normally would do,” he said.

Where Is Everyone? 4 Possible Explanations for the Fermi Paradox
The Fermi Paradox is such an interesting enigma, with many theoretical answers. A more dystopian conclusion (it’s Friday the 13th after all) might be that no alien civilisation has ever survived the technological advancement of evolution. Space technology is likely too close to extinction event technology. The next few hundred years will truly determine if we manage to survive and prosper as a space-faring species. Den som lever får se.

Richard Dawkins: ‘Brexit is now a religion. They don’t mind if they destroy the country’
(More dystopia? Fun stuff further below! Please have patience.) I have the deepest respect for Richard Dawkins. And he certainly seems to be spot-on regarding Brexit. “I think the Brexiteers started out by having a belief it would be a good thing; it has become a religion now. It has become a faith. It has become a creed… It has become like religious zeal. They are determined to get Brexit even if they destroy the country, and Scotland breaks away in the process. It’s a form of madness.”

UK officials call for loot boxes to be regulated like gambling
I think it’s good that legislators are concerned about loot boxes. But comparing it to gambling is probably taking it too far. I doubt that loot boxes as a sales tactic has destroyed lives and families like gambling does. But shining a spotlight on this is good. And we need more research.

12 signs you're an extroverted introvert | Stuff.co.nz
This is so much me. I guess most people can recognise some of the signs in themselves, but all twelve or spot on for me. I certainly enjoy being extrovert sometimes, maybe often, but deep down I’m a shy introvert little boy. :)

Volkswagen reveals its mass-market ID.3, an electric car with up to 341 miles of range – TechCrunch
Other manufacturers are finally coming out with true competition to Tesla. I’m still a big believer in all things Elon Musk and Tesla (disclaimer: I own shares), but competition is great. It makes everyone better.

Apple reveals the powerful new iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max
I love new tech. And the camera in the iPhone 11 Pro certainly looks amazing (although it might be playing catch-up). But for some reason I don’t get the must-have vibes. Maybe I’m just getting older and slower. (Or maybe Apple is!)

Golf Blitz - Noodlecake Studios Inc.
GAME RECOMMENDATION. I just can’t stop playing this. Been at it for months. Great mix of bite-sized action, where a four-player online-match typically takes about five suspenseful minutes. Fun, competitive and sometimes very frustrating! Yaay!

Leverage Brand and IP
Speaking of great games. If you’re a game developer, you should check out the services of Leverage. Unless you’re already a Blizzard or Nintendo, you will need to spend effort to improve your branding and IP-building skills. (Disclaimer: I’m friends with the CEO, but have no other upside than being treated to an occasional “fika”.)
